Coupling his impressive knife skills with Philippe Starck's inventive design skills results in a dining experience that strikes at all the senses. The playfully sophisticated room, inspired by bento boxes, features lacquered wood walls and ceilings with white on white furniture. The Katsuya I visited was the one located in Hollywood. This was the location where I spotted Hugh Heffner and his entourage of beautiful blond body guards, seven to be exact! Aside from the brief encounter with a celebrity, the food was the best Japanese food I've ever had. My g/f and I ended up choosing the Omakase tasting menu, which I highly recommend to anyone. The highlight of the meal was the kobe steak with foie gras. After having a meal like this, it's going to be difficult eating the usual maki rolls! The restaurant was designed by Philippe Starck, which made the restaurant very cool to hang out, no matter if you're in the dining or bar area. Very highly recommended! minimize review
